Atchison Area Outdoor Soccer
Association

Atchison Area Outdoor Soccer Association's primary purpose is to provide
a challenging and fun soccer experience for as many children as possible,
in Atchison and surrounding areas. We provide organizational support,
guidance and direction for players, coaches and volunteers; the best coaching
and instruction available; a safe playing environment; and, where appropriate,
fair and challenging competition.
We promote the values of fair play, good sportsmanship and both team
and individual accomplishment.
The quality and success of this fast growing organization can be attributed
to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who coach, administer
or otherwise give of their time.
The Goals of the Atchison Area Outdoor Soccer Association
- To provide a positive environment for the continuing development of
players who demonstrate talent, commitment, good sportsmanship and the
desire to excel in the sport of soccer;
- To provide the environment that allows the soccer player to grow to
their maximum ability as a person;
- To develop self confidence and self respect in youth;
- To develop an appreciation of a young person's own worth as an individual;
- To organize, reach and develop the game of soccer for and to youth,
coaches, and parents;
- To promote the responsible maturation of youth through the game of
soccer.
About the Atchison Area Outdoor Soccer Association
AAOSA
offers soccer for all ages. Our Under 6 program (ages 4-5) has allows
children to participate in the spring and fall. The primary goal of the
U6 program is fun for the kids and parents. We teach basic skills at this
level and we just let them play and run using a 3 vs 3 setup on a small
field with a 4-foot goal and no goalie. The teams are small and they play
4 eight-minute quarters. Every child plays at least half of the game.
We mainly want our Under 6 kids to enjoy the game and not get discouraged.
The Under 8 division continues to teach the fundamental skills and we play 4 vs 4 with small teams and no goalkeepers. At this level we teach skills
in dribbling, passing and positioning. Each player plays at least half
of the game in four eight-minute quarters.
The Under 11 division is a little more competitive with referees and a
goalie. We play 6 vs 6 with small teams. At this level we teach skills
in dribbling, passing and positioning. Each player plays at least half
of the game in four twelve-minute quarters.
The Under 15 division plays on a full field with 11 vs 11 and two
thirty-five minute halves.
All ages play other teams from other associations, and the games are
played at the Riverside Sports Complex in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Our spring season is played from March through May. Our fall season goes
from September until November. Players registered in the fall do not need
to re-register for the spring season.
Fall 2009/Spring 2010 soccer registration for new players is July 28-August 7, 2008. Forms may be downloaded from the Forms page, or may be picked up and dropped of at the Atchison YMCA or Edward Jones. For additional information, contact Susan Kramer at 913-367-7018.
